Found this interesting mix from stop motion and cg. Campaign branding. This piece was a composite of stop-motion photography and 3D rendered elements. The plate photography of the clay table was tracked and solved using Maya. The chairs were instanced and animated with MEL.
Who said you need a camera to do stop motion? Well if you are the cool guys from Never Hide Film all you need is a scanner, 325 pages and some cool imagination check it you.
Since our last post was about bread, and lets face it we love it (I will admit to my guilt), I remember watching another awesome bread stop motion, so I will bring it to you here.
And also I remember watching how it was done, so here it is hope this will satisfy your curiosity and now we will have a much better appreciation of bread.
Check this out, Im becoming a big fan of OK GO, just released their latest video for the song “Last Leaf“. It’s a stop motion video in which individual pieces of toast are used as each frame of the animation. 15 still shots (made with the Samsung NX100) were used for each second in the resulting video, with the final video using 2,430 pieces of toast.
There is a ton of talent out there, check this out the creators of this video not only created this cool stop motion animation, but they wrote the song as well. I added some links at the bottom so please make sure you check them out.

The Spirit of Gravity is an award winning animated music video written and directed by Victor Bellomo and David Pace. The film was inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra.” This stop motion animation is composed of thousands of collaged photographs, which have been animated using both traditional and digital techniques. The song was written and performed by the filmmakers and sung by Victor Bellomo.
Check out this crazy good film, love the action feel of it. Please remember if you see a cute cat think twice before you go into a twister for it… did that make sense? Anyway love it and hope you enjoy this!
The stop motion animation feature that was a blast to design. Every movement, step and breath had to be recorded. Directed by Roy Wood.
I know we are generally dedicated to our favorite form of animation, that of course being claymation or stop motion, but I thought I would shout out a kudos on another job well done from our friends in the 3D world. The new 3D animation full length film “Megamind,” the story of a supervillain turned superhero, which reached No. 1 with an estimated $47.7 million in its opening weekend at the North American box office, according to Hollywood.com, a compiler of box-office statistics.
Love to see animation in any form so will be looking forward to this movie!
(I generally wait to see the animated films as they are often over run but little ones haha)
Bruce Bickford was in Calgary this past friday to show off his claymation CAS’l’ as part of the GIRAF Independent Animation Festival, it will be after 20 years of working on it. Make that 20 years and counting.
I thought I would share his excerpt for this epic work in progress with all of our fans and friends! Enjoy!

As we’ve proven time and time again, TechCrunch is your one stop shop for all your ‘Angry Birds’ needs. Thus we couldn’t resist posting animator Gregory Cortez’s old school animated homage to the wildly popular iPhone and Android game. Besides, it’s almost always cool when things go from hi to lo-tech.
Made using colored construction paper, each of the frames in Cortez’s stop motion video are individually photographed (think Gumby), so it looks like they’re moving when played continuously. What’s even more impressive is that everything here but the ‘Angry Birds’ logo and the scores were drawn up using this method.
